Elberta J. Wood

Bio & Statement
Creating has always been integral part of my being.    Creative activity was focused on clothing design and home decorating during my years of school, work, and parenting.  As the children drifted from home into lives of their own  I began to enroll in formal painting classes.  Participation in art workshops offered by experienced artists continues to be a routine activity.
Fine Art is one expression of my appreciation for the beauty to be found in this world.  The Palouse Country and Blue Mountains that surround my studio in the Walla Walla Valley are rich in subject matter and inspiration for painting.  Travel has also significantly influenced the images I choose to paint.  Visits are frequent to family in New England.  Foreign travel has increased in recent years, including a recent painting workshop in the Tuscany of Italy.
My two-dimensional representations began in watercolor and expanded to include pastel.  Exploration and experimentation with other media continues to increase my possibilities for artistic expression.  A wide variety of subject matter attracts my attention for painting.  Most of my work is representational but I may occasionally do more abstract images.
Through the years my work has been shown in many solo, group, and juried shows.  Awards received give added incentive to the internal inspiration to paint.
